Window ac on fan mode

Is it better to use a window AC on fan mode or to buy separate fans?

I looked and looked nothing as simple a question on air conditioner fan mode. I have 3 medium sized air conditioners, and want to know if it is better to run them on fan mode, or just go buy standing fans?

The fan operating in a window air conditioner unit when it is in fan mode is just a fan. It should have about the same energy efficiency as a standing fan, and you will use a lot less energy running it in fan mode than running it in cooling mode. If the air conditioner does a good job keeping you cool when running in fan mode then I don't see any advantage to buying floor fans, in terms of how much energy you will use. On the other hand, one benefit of floor mounted fans is that you can easily move them around, so they may provide increased comfort in a room that isn't air conditioned, than leaving the window AC on fan mode.
