Why I save electricity

When I think about the many reasons I want to save electricity, there are three thoughts that stand out. First of all, I want to do my part in contributing productively to society. I have always considered myself to be somewhat of a conservative person. Secondly, I want to save energy for future generations. Last but not least, saving electricity provides the added benefit of saving money from coming out of my own wallet.
Who wants to think of themselves as selfish and ungiving? Maybe you cannot contribute financially to the overall well-being of our nation. There is still a way you can contribute. Just lower your use of energy. Really, there are so many ways you can do this! I personally, will know that I am doing my part in saving electricity.
Our resources on earth are not unlimited. How long can we really last? Things cannot continue to go on as they always have. Future generations may find themselves without many of the things we consider essentials, such as cheap electricity. Perhaps it will be 100's of years away, but you have to wonder, is there anything I can do as an individual to slow the process of using up our resources? There is! We can start conserving how much energy we use. In this day and age there are so many ways we can do that.
Not only will we be saving energy for future generations, we will also be saving money on our own power bills. We all need to think about saving money in this tough economy. Any one of us are apt to lose our positions and income at any given time. We can be more prepared for a situation if we are saving money and what easier way to save than by cutting down on electricity usage. If everyone started cutting down on their energy usage, then eventually electricity costs will be lower for everyone.
I am cutting electricity costs by unplugging appliances that are not in use. Remembering to turn out lights that are not in use, is another practice my household operates on. Sure it can be a hassle at first, but eventually you will get in the habit. We also keep our heat around 72 degrees which dramatically decreases the cost. Just remember there are so many different things you and your family can do to contribute to society, save resources for future generations, and even put a little money back into your own pocket.
