Uganda water and garden project
A community economic development project worth your support

Children carrying water in Uganda
Green Energy Efficient Homes is thrilled to provide financial support to the Uganda Water and Garden Project. The project is implemented by the Canada Africa School Partnership (CASP). CASP helps communities in Uganda build large-capacity rainwater retention systems at community schools, so that children who would otherwise spend much of their day walking several miles for water can instead devote more of their time and energy to learning. The harvested rainwater can then be used not only for drinking and cooking, and household uses such as washing and laundry, but to water garden plots to produce food.
CASP has partnered with local communities, local, state and Federal governments in Uganda; and international donors such as UNESCO, school groups in Canada, and private and business donors such as Green Energy Efficient Homes, to involve communities in building their own rainwater harvesting and gardening projects. Projects in several communities are underway, and with continued support CASP hopes to help many more communities install such systems.
You can support this project with your donation, or by getting your school involved in a fundraising, pen-pal, water conservation awareness, or other project related to this effort. It can be a great opportunity to teach children in the developed world about the importance of conserving our resources and collaborating with friends in developing countries.
