Plastic sheets on old single pane glass and or useless windows

We put up plastic sheeting in January 2009 on the windows that face the front of our apartment complex in Shanghai, China. We can't solve the construction flaws but we can work on our single pane glass. You feel the difference right away and we turned down the heat. In a country such as China, you still need to be diligent to live the energy efficient lifestyle.

I also did this way back in the day when I lived in Ottawa in a turn of the century home. My house mate Wayne Mah and I bought some sheets and you simply blow dry them around the frames of the windows and we felt a difference considering that Ottawa was a steep -32C.
